Black Bottom Banana Bars
Recipe:
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 1/2 cups mashed banana (about 3 medium bananas)
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup baking cocoa
- 1 cup chocolate chips
Found this delicious recipe on Bunny's Warm Oven food blog, who found the recipe on Tammy's Recipe food blog. Lisa, thanks for finding my site and posting this recipe on your food blog.
Directions:
- In mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar. Add egg, vanilla, and bananas, beating thoroughly.
- In a separate bowl, combine flour, soda, baking powder, and salt. Add to creamed mixture and mix well.
- Divide batter in half. Add the cocoa to one portion of the batter. Spread that portion in the bottom of a greased 9 x 13-inch baking dish. Spoon remaining batter on top, swirling gently with butter knife if desired, and sprinkle with chocolate chips.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until batter tests done with a toothpick or fork. Cool and cut into 24 squares.
Calories: Umm, there's bananas in it, so it can't be all that bad for you, right?
This delicious mouth watering recipe is one that I would not only make again, but recommend to others out there who don't know what to do with very ripe bananas... other then making a traditional banana bread.
I decided to make this recipe last minute to share with some girlfriends of mine this morning and only had 45 minutes to do this... that's how quick and easy this recipe is to make. Yep, 15 minutes of prep time and 30 minutes to bake and voila sweet treats.
Till next time, from my kitchen to yours... Bon Appétit!

What a unique and delicious sounding recipe! I love banana and I can imagine that with chocolate it would be really yummy
The two mixed together are amazing. Both are wonderful complements to each other. Next time I make it I'm thinking of adding nuts... yum. :)
Mmm, chocolate and banana sounds like a fantastic combo. I have a sweet treat linky party going on at my blog and I'd like to invite you to stop by and link your bars up. http://sweet-as-sugar-cookies.blogspot.com/2011/04/sweets-for-saturday-11.html
